The countdown to the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) has officially begun, setting the stage for yet another grand cinematic celebration in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025. The prestigious festival, unveiled with a vibrant curtain raiser in New Delhi, promises to embody the spirit of innovation, inclusivity, and creative brilliance that defines contemporary cinema. This year, IFFI brings together a record 2,314 film submissions from 127 countries, curating an extraordinary selection of over 240 films from 81 nations, including 13 world premieres, 5 international premieres, and 44 Asian premieres.

With a special focus on women filmmakers, emerging voices, and global storytelling, the festival will also pay homage to cinematic icons—most notably legendary actor Rajinikanth, who will be felicitated at the closing ceremony for completing 50 glorious years in cinema. From curated sections such as Docu-Montage, Rising Stars, Restored Classics, and UNICEF and Cinema of the World, to country focus on Japan and special showcases from Spain and Australia, IFFI 2025 is poised to be a landmark celebration of storytelling, creativity, and culture on the world stage.

Adding to the cinematic charm of IFFI 2025, this year’s edition introduces “IFFIesta”, a vibrant cultural and entertainment extravaganza designed to bring together communities through film, food, music, art, and interactive experiences. The festival aims to expand its public engagement and youth participation, transforming Goa into a bustling creative hub. Speaking at the curtain raiser, Shri Jaju highlighted the growing influence of Generative AI in the entertainment industry, emphasizing that artificial intelligence should be embraced as a creative tool to empower storytellers and share India’s stories with the world.
