In a landmark milestone for India’s evolving clean-mobility landscape, JSW MG Motor India has officially launched the all-new MG Hector Tomahawk series, introducing both pure-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains simultaneously. Built on the automaker’s new ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology) chassis, the flagship mid-size SUV hits Indian showrooms at an introductory starting price of ₹19.49 Lakh for the Tomahawk EV and ₹25.69 Lakh for the Tomahawk PHEV (ex-showroom).
To accelerate adoption across diverse buyer segments, MG is also extending its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model. Under BaaS, upfront acquisition costs drop to ₹13.99 Lakh for the EV (plus a battery rental fee of ₹4.90/km) and ₹21.79 Lakh for the PHEV (plus ₹3.20/km). By delivering two electrification pathways under a single iconic nameplate, MG addresses both daily zero-emission urban commutes and long-distance travel requirements.
Leadership Vision: Two Electrification Paths for India
The decision to launch pure EV and PHEV derivatives together stems from a clear strategic directive by MG Motor’s core management: eliminate range anxiety while making green mobility practical across varied infrastructure realities.
While pure battery electric vehicles continue to gain strong traction in metro regions, intercity connectivity still demands operational flexibility. The ADAPT architecture solves this dilemma through structural versatility. City-centric drivers get a substantial 517 km (MIDC-claimed) single-charge range in the EV variant, whereas high-mileage road trippers gain 1,100+ km of combined total cruising range in the PHEV.
“The Hector Tomahawk lineup demonstrates our intent to lead India’s new-energy transition without compromises,” declared MG’s product development team during the reveal. “Whether an owner seeks absolute zero-emission daily driving or unlimited cross-country range confidence, our dual-powertrain lineup provides a tailormade solution.”
