Nana Patekar OTT Debut: Sankalp Trailer Out; Prakash Jha’s Political Thriller to Stream Free on Amazon MX Player

The corridors of power have moved from the palace to the classroom, and the stakes have never been higher. Jio Studios and PJP Films have officially unveiled the trailer for Sankalp, a high-octane socio-political thriller that marks the long-awaited streaming debut of the legendary Nana Patekar. Directed by National Award-winner Prakash Jha, the series is more than just a political drama; it is a contemporary reimagining of the ancient Chanakya-Chandragupta chronicles. Set to premiere on March 11 for free on Amazon MX Player, Sankalp dives deep into the friction between mentorship, cold-blooded ambition, and the moral price of authority.

A World of Sanskaar, Satta, and Samarpan

The trailer introduces us to Ma’at Saab (Nana Patekar), an influential educator whose power is built on a foundation of loyalty and unwavering devotion. However, the peace is shattered as the narrative explores the thin line between guidance and dominance. The series promises a gripping “student vs. master” tussle, questioning whether a mentee can—or should—rise against the person who shaped them.

Prakash Jha, known for his unflinching look at Indian society, brings a formidable ensemble to life. Alongside Patekar, the series features Sanjay Kapoor, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Neeraj Kabi, Kubrra Sait, and Kranti Prakash Jha.

Reflecting on his entry into the OTT space, Nana Patekar shared: “Playing Ma’at Saab has been a huge learning… it’s a character layered with silence, conflict, and consequences. Working again with Prakash Jha is always special because he tells stories that mirror the world as it is. I can’t wait for audiences to experience this world on Amazon MX Player.”

For Director Prakash Jha, Sankalp is an extension of his belief that cinema should challenge the viewer. “A story truly succeeds when it leaves behind questions that challenge our understanding of the world,” Jha stated, noting that the collaboration with Jio Studios and Amazon MX Player ensures this vision reaches a massive, diverse audience.

Amogh Dusad, Head of Content at Amazon MX Player, highlighted the series as a “sharp, contemporary thriller with larger-than-life characters” that fits the platform’s focus on culturally rooted, impactful narratives.

Sankalp will be available to stream for free starting March 11, 2026, exclusively on Amazon MX Player. Viewers can access the series via the mobile app, Amazon shopping app, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Connected TVs.
