BMW Group and Tata Technologies Launch ‘BMW TechWorks India’ in JV to Drive Innovation in Automotive Software & Business IT

Tata Technologies, a leading global provider of product engineering and digital services, and the BMW Group, renowned as one of the world’s foremost premium automotive manufacturers, are excited to announce the official launch of their Joint Venture (JV) – BMW TechWorks India. Following the successful signing of contracts and the necessary approvals, operations will begin with a dedicated team of 100 employees across key technology hubs in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This venture aims for rapid growth, targeting a workforce expansion into the thousands by the end of 2024, with a strong focus on attracting India’s top engineering talent. With both BMW Group and Tata Technologies equally sharing ownership of this JV, the collaboration embodies a shared commitment to driving innovation in automotive technology and business IT on a global scale.

BMW TechWorks India enhances BMW Group’s global strategy by developing seamless software solutions for next-gen vehicles and improving digital experiences. Leveraging Tata Technologies’ expertise in the entire product value chain, from concept to SDV development, the JV will drive innovation in key software projects while tapping into India’s rich talent pool.

Central to this partnership is the philosophy of “Engineer In India for the World.” India’s top engineering and IT professionals will be crucial in creating strategic software solutions for software-defined vehicles, automated driving, and digital services. This collaboration aims to accelerate the digital transformation of BMW’s global production network and enhance customer interactions.

Aditya Khera serves as CEO and Seta Girinatham as CFO, representing Tata Technologies. From the BMW Group, Stefan Flader takes on the role of COO of Enterprise IT, while Oliver Scheickl assumes the position of COO of Automotive Software. This diverse leadership team combines industry expertise and strategic vision to drive the success of the joint venture
