Malabar Group, the parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, launched its National Scholarship Programme for 2024 at an event at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai. This marks a significant milestone in the Group’s CSR efforts, with the programme aimed at supporting girls’ education across India. The event was inaugurated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Honourable Minister of Commerce & Industry. The Group’s top leadership, including MP Ahammed, (Chairman – Malabar Group), Asher O (MD – India operations – Malabar Group, Abdul Salam K P (Vice-Chairman – Malabar Group), Nishad AK (Executive Director, Malabar Group) and Shaunak Parikh (Director, Mahendra Brothers) and other key executives.
The 2024 scholarship initiative has allocated ₹16 crore to support the education of over 21,000 girl students nationwide. Speaking about the programme, MP Ahammed stated, “Education is the most powerful tool to change the world. We are committed to removing barriers for young girls so they can achieve their educational aspirations and contribute to society.”
Since its inception in 2007, the Malabar National Scholarship Programme has invested ₹60 crore in helping more than 95,000 girl students pursue education. This initiative is part of Malabar Group’s broader commitment to inclusive growth, with 5% of its profits directed toward CSR activities such as education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation.
Beyond education, Malabar Group’s Hunger-Free World Project delivers 50,000 food packets daily across 80 cities in 16 states in India, with an expansion target of serving 100,000 people daily. The Group also operates the Grandma Home Project, providing free accommodation for destitute women, with plans to expand to major cities across India.
The Group’s CSR initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized communities include medical aid for the underprivileged, support for housing construction, and financial assistance for the marriages of women in need. To date, the Malabar Group has invested over ₹263 crore in various social responsibility projects, reflecting its deep-rooted belief that sustainable growth is only possible through community empowerment and support.
