Against the historic backdrop of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked India’s 79th Independence Day with a stirring speech that resonated across the nation. His address echoed with strength, self-reliance, and unyielding national pride, setting the tone for a future defined by security, economic growth, and the spirit of a truly independent India.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s resolve as a secure, fearless country, standing tall against any form of intimidation—including the recent nuclear attack blackmail by Pakistan. With steely determination, he reminded the world of Operation Sindoor, a swift and decisive retaliatory action by the Indian Army, saying, “We have shown them what we are all about. Our Army has full freedom to defend and retaliate against such blackmailers in the best way possible.”
The Prime Minister also struck a deeply patriotic chord by emphasizing self-reliance as the true essence of independence. In a pointed remark, he noted that depending on others for your growth only stagnates your freedom, making you a prisoner to those you rely on. “India is not dependent on anyone. We are truly independent—and proud of ourselves,” he declared, to thunderous applause.
Adding to the spirit of celebration, PM Modi also promised a Diwali gift for the citizens of the country. Speaking from the ramparts of the Red Fort, he announced that the next-generation Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms will be rolled out as a festival gift. “This Diwali, I am going to make it a double Diwali for you. The citizens will receive a big gift… We are bringing next-generation GST reforms that will reduce the tax burden across the country,” he said, recalling the historic GST launch on July 1, 2017. With eight years of experience under the regime, he stated that the time had come to review and further simplify the system for the benefit of all.
PM Modi’s address celebrated not only military strength but also India’s economic resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, hailing the country’s business community as architects of a new, confident, and globally respected India.
