In an appeal letter sent by Prof Rahul V Karad, MIT-SOG  has urged the Prime Minister that the Indian Institute of Political Leadership & Governance (IIPLG), comparable with IITs & IIMs in quality, be established in all states of India as Institutions of National Importance. The proposed institutions of IIPLG ideally should be run in a collaborative structure of respective State Legislative Assemblies, Both the House of Indian Parliament – Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha, Government of India and Private educational entities.

As a private charitable organization, MAEER’s MIT successfully started the MIT School of Government, 1st School in the country which impart the youth with knowledge of governmental and political processes, democratic values and inculcating leadership qualities with Shri. T. N. Seshan as its Founding Chairman in Pune, in 2005. In last 12 years, MIT-SOG has created significant awareness in the country by training hundreds of youth, who aspire to pursue their careers in political leadership and governance. Today, these youth hold important responsibilities across all political parties and levels.

Unique conclaves like the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) and National Teachers’ Congress have successfully carried forward the ideals and objectives of MIT-SOG. But to cater the need of bridging the gap between educated youth and political leadership in the vastness of this country, this country needs more institutions providing structural education of political leadership and governance similar to MIT-SOG. The country is now witnessing more of its educated youth getting engaged with democratic and political processes, but for developing the liking for Democratic values, national causes in greater number of youth, some far-reaching, conscious and concerted efforts for National Integration in true sense are needed by putting an institutionalize mechanism in place.

To take this particular vision ahead, the letter also appeals to initiate an All India Legislature Congress (AILC), a 3-day annual national conference under the aegis of Lok Sabha and Prime Minister’s patronage. The idea behind it is to bring and engage the Members of all Legislative Assemblies and Councils of India (across all parties) under one roof in New Delhi. To our knowledge, this has never happened in independent India. Such step will enormously contribute to the solidarity of Indian democracy, national integration and inculcate the culture of Good Governance in the country at all levels. Just to add recently held 1st National Women’s Parliament by MIT SOG and AP Legislative Assembly at Amravati, AP was a great success to bring all Women Legislators, MPs together along with over 15000 girl student leaders.
