As proudly as the trailer announces: Worshipped for over 5,000 years by more than 2.5 billion people, Ramayana: The Introduction brings to life the legendary conflict between Lord Rama and Ravana — a battle of Dharma versus Power, Sacrifice versus Revenge. Ramayana is more than a sacred scripture — it’s the very fabric of Indian culture. And now, for the first time, this immortal saga unfolds with the cinematic scale it truly deserves.
The much-awaited trailer of Ramayana: The Introduction has arrived, and it’s a visual symphony of mythology, emotion, and cinematic mastery. Produced by Namit Malhotra and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this upcoming magnum opus aims to catapult Indian storytelling onto the global stage — with the grandeur of IMAX visuals, a world-class cast, and an unprecedented production scale.
The trailer showcases state-of-the-art visual effects, stunning landscapes, and deeply immersive action — designed especially for the IMAX experience. Every frame echoes meticulous world-building and emotional storytelling, drawing inspiration from India’s mythological roots while embracing the best of modern cinematic technology. With DNEG — the VFX powerhouse behind Dune, Tenet, and other Oscar-winning visuals — spearheading post-production, this film promises nothing short of global excellence.
Stellar Cast and a Soundtrack for the Ages
The ensemble cast features some of India’s most celebrated talents. Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama brings intensity and poise, Yash as Ravana is both fierce and magnetic, Sai Pallavi channels grace as Sita, while Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol bring gravitas as Laxmana and Hanuman, respectively.
Elevating the visual journey is a monumental musical collaboration — A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, two legendary composers from different worlds, come together to shape an unforgettable score. This marks Zimmer’s much-anticipated Bollywood debut, and the soundtrack alone promises to be a global talking point.
A Digital Universe Begins
To build anticipation and expand the mythology, the creators have launched the official YouTube channel – World Of Ramayana – where future teasers, behind-the-scenes content, and immersive world-building properties will be exclusively dropped. This marks the start of an expansive cinematic universe rooted in Indian epics.
At the trailer launch in Mumbai, Namit Malhotra emphasized the deeper purpose of the film: “Ramayana is more than a film — it’s a cultural movement that resonates with every Indian across the globe. Through this cinematic journey, we are not merely revisiting our mythology, but reintroducing it to the world with fresh authenticity and grandeur. It’s our truth — now transformed into our offering to the world.”
The screenplay, penned by acclaimed writer Shridhar Raghavan, adds emotional depth and dramatic scale to this mythic retelling, ensuring the story strikes a chord across generations and geographies.
The film is slated for a global release of the First Chapter on the auspicious Festival of Lights – Diwali 2026, followed by the Second Chapter in Diwali 2027.
