Mithali Raj, Yuvraj Singh Headline ‘50 Days to Go’ Celebration for ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025

The countdown to one of cricket’s most anticipated tournaments is officially underway. Cricket legends Mithali Raj and Yuvraj Singh headlined a star-studded gathering in Mumbai to mark ‘50 Days to Go’ until the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, as the ICC unveiled its Trophy Tour across India and Sri Lanka.

The event, inaugurated by ICC Chairman Jay Shah, brought together some of India’s most celebrated women cricketers, including Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues, alongside ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jay Shah said the upcoming tournament represents a pivotal moment for women’s cricket:

“The return of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 to India comes at a defining moment for the women’s game, setting the stage for a truly world-class tournament that will further elevate the sport’s global stature. Conversations like today’s panel discussion are invaluable in shaping our collective vision and driving progress.”

With just 50 days to go, Shah confirmed preparations are in full swing, expressing confidence that the event will provide “an unforgettable experience” for teams and fans alike.

First Women’s World Cup in the Subcontinent Since 2016

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will feature eight teams – Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka – competing in a round-robin format. It marks the first women’s global cricket tournament in the subcontinent since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2016 and will be India’s fourth time hosting the marquee event after 1978, 1997, and 2013.

Trophy Tour Across Host Cities

The ICC Trophy Tour will travel through all host cities as well as Delhi and Mumbai, stopping at iconic landmarks and engaging with fans through the dedicated Instagram channel @icctrophytour.

As part of a school legacy programme, the tour will also visit multiple schools in each host city, offering students the chance to attend World Cup matches and experience the sport at the highest level. This initiative is a joint effort by the BCCI and the ICC to inspire the next generation of cricketers.

With excitement building across the cricketing world, the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 promises to deliver world-class action, historic moments, and a renewed spotlight on women’s sport.
